Who We Are

How to Find a Puppy is a not-for-profit small dog rescue run by a group of volunteers located in Victoria BC. We are dedicated to educating the  public about the horrors of puppy mills and how not to support one. We encourage families  looking for their next furry companion to adopt a dog from a shelter or rescue  organization, rather than supporting a puppy mill or backyard breeder by shopping in a pet store.

We recognize that local families seeking a small dog need an option to purchasing from a pet store or backyard breeder and that local shelters often do not have small dogs available for adoption.  When we became aware that  there were thousands of small dogs scheduled for euthanasia in overcrowded high-kill shelters in Los  Angeles, we realized that we could help to provide a win-win solution for the shelter dogs and BC families.
